Steve Burdan has been writing resumes, cover letters and other support documents for over 20 years. He has contracted to different US and Canadian service providers,been employed with a Chicagoland resume thought leader and handled a growing portfolio of personal clients. He earned the Certified Professional Resume Writer (CPRW) certification in 2003, giving him the basic stamp of professional approval in the resume writing world.
Prior to writing resumes, Steve worked in executive recruiting with 2 executive recruiting firms based in Chicago. There he learned how to qualify and listen to potential candidates in order to meet specialized requirements and fill management and executive positions for client companies.
Steve has 3 college degrees – a B.A. in History and a M.A. in German from the University of Florida, and a M.Div. in Theology from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School. He has also studied as a graduate student for one year at the University of Tubingen in Germany and lived in London, UK during grad school for over 7 months, giving him unique cross-cultural sensitivities.
Combining a positive balance of in-depth interviewing skills, attentive listening skills and clear, provocative writing, Steve has helped to orient and prepare clients for the rigors of the job search. He understands the dynamics of the transition through personal experience, as how most of the clients he works with. This gives him an understanding ear and encouraging approach that gives new drive and purpose when it is needed.
Steve has learned there can be great satisfaction in guiding and supporting people through one of the most traumatic events in a person’s life – the job search, whether chosen or imposed. He has the right blend of sympathy, encouragement and challenge to help clients maintain forward momentum.
